During night flights, aircraft position lights help determine the direction of other aircraft. A steady white light is located on the tail of the aircraft, indicating that the aircraft is moving away from you. The flashing red light is the anti-collision light, which is located on the top and bottom of the aircraft. Together, these lights indicate that the other aircraft is moving away from your position.
